Costa Rica – Corcovado National Park Tour 9 Days
Tour Program:
Day 0 - Los Angeles – San Jose, Costa Rica(night flight)
Planned Activity: Arrival in San Jose.
Day 1 - San Jose – Turrialba Valley - River Camp
Planned Activity: Arrival in SJO. Early start in Jeeps; drive East towards Turrialba Valley; stop for lunch with surprise
activity; then continue to Turrialba Valley (total drive app. 3-4 hours); then rafting on Pacuare River, 10 miles, rapids
class 3-4; arrive late afternoon at camp.
Optional Activity: activities at camp
Hotel: Campsite in rainforest, (camp amenities would include flush toilet outhouses, running potable water, platforms with stand up tents)
Food: Dinner at camp
Day 2 - Turrialba Valley - River Camp
Planned Activity: Mid-morning preparation for full day to the top of nearby mountain to visit native American settlement
(including pre-arranged cultural exchange with natives- guests are recommended to bring small, interesting gifts for kids
or native adults in exchange for hand-crafted balsa masks made by native artisans). Hike on trails seldom walked even
by locals, let alone tourists. Late afternoon arrival at camp.

Day 3 - 29 River Camp - Siquirres – Dominical
Planned Activity: 2 hours Rafting in the morning; get off river and change into dry clothes; then drive south through
Cloud forest to Dominical. (Total drive app. 5-6 hours)

Food: Restaurant at hotel
Day 4 - Dominical – La Palma – Corcovado National Park
Planned Activity: Drive to La Palma Trailhead (Total drive app. 2-3 hours). Start hike into Corcovado National Park
including several river crossings and steady escalation towards first ranger station Los Patos. (hike time: 4-5 hours)

Food: Dinner prepared by cook at camp
Day 5 - Corcovado National Park
Planned Activity: Continue hike across relatively level peninsula through lush mountain rain forest; Opportunity to see
abundant wildlife (including large flocks of scarlet macaws, white face monkeys and occasionally tapirs). Arrive
late afternoon at La Sirena Biological Research Center. (hike time: 6-8 hours)
Optional Activity: none
Hotel: Campsite in rainforest at La Sirena Biological Research Center.
Food: Dinner prepared by cook at camp
Day 6 - Corcovado National Park – Drake Bay
Planned Activity: Early start. Short hike to the beach (pacific ocean); there, rendezvous with motor boat (beach dock)
and continue north along coast to San Pedrillo Ranger Station (boat instead of hike as hiking this portion requires
1.5 days and is dangerous due to jaguar and crocodiles along almost abandoned beach trail). Arrival in Drake Bay and
relax from strenuous hike.

Day 7 – Drake Bay – Canoa Island
Planned Activity: After Breakfast departure in boat to Canoa Island (app. 1 hour). There you will be provided snorkeling
gear and see amazing underwater world. Lunch snack and more snorkeling. In the afternoon return to Drake Bay.
Optional Activity: Canopy Tour
Hotel: Aguila de Osa Inn (www.aguiladeosainn.com)
Food: Dinner at hotel
Day 8 – Drake Bay – Manuel Antonio
Planned Activity: Early departure from Drake Bay in Sail boat. Sail north (app.4 hours), arriva in Uvita and meet up with
cars. From there drive north to Manuel Antonio. (app. 40 min)

Food: Dinner at hotel
Day 9 – Manuel Antonio – San Jose Airport
Planned Activity: Early start; drive to San Jose; lunch at outlook point on the way. Time permitting sights can be visited.

Planned Accommodation: double occupancy, medium hotels – first class hotels, 2 night in camp on river, 2 nights in
