Copper Canyon – Crystals and Canyons
Day 1 – Chihuahua
Planned Activity: Evening arrival to Chihuahua. Chihuahua beautiful parks and plazas, excellent
restaurants, and a fine collection of cultural offerings. This capital city of Mexico’s largest state has long been
a prosperous city, as evidenced by the restored colonial buildings dotting downtown.

Day 2 - Cueva de las Espadas –Divisadero– Posada Mirador Lodge
Planned Activity: Early drive to Naica where you will experience the Enchantment of the Naica Crystal Caves.
Cueva de los Cristales (Cave of Crystals) contains some of the world's largest known natural crystals—
translucent beams of gypsum as long as 36 feet. This breath taking trek into the earth is currently studied by
National Geographic. Because they are so recently discovered and not available for tourism, a health
inspection must be conducted before entering these caves. After a few hours exploring these caves, we will
drive towards Copper Canyon. We will reach our Lodge nestled into the rim of the hotel in the evening. Poised
like an eagle's nest at the canyon's edge is the Mirador Hotel, near the highest point of the canyon overlooks
exhibit awe-inspiring scenery from the rim of Copper Canyon. This deluxe hotel is surrounded by pine trees
and appears to be "etched out" of the natural rock itself.

Day 3 - Copper Canyon – Cusarare – Basirecota Hot Springs
Planned Activity: Wake up early, and take in the breathtaking views of the sunrise. An hour or so transfer in
the jeeps to Cusarare. Today we will begin the first of a 3 day-two night hike into the depths of the canyon.
The first destination will be the hot springs of Basirecota. This h ot spring is quite hot and has a beautiful pool
in the rocks near the river. Set up camp and jump in! A private dinner will be made by a native Raramuri
Indian women.

Day 4 – Copper Canyon – Owerabo Hot Springs
Planned Activity: Begin the morning early -you'll have a full day of hiking to reach Owerabo hot
springs. Count on about 7 hours or so today. This hot spring is a hidden favorite as it sits on a
gentle slope in a natural made watering hole with a soft flowing into it. There is a large river
nearby, just down the slope, and several other hot springs behind in a smaller stream feed into the
main river. Across the river there is a waterfall that is fed by another hot springs providing a lovely
warm cascade of water. Camp next to the river.

Day 5 - Copper Canyon – Recowata Hot Springs – Valley of the Mushrooms
Planned Activity: Hiking to Recowata today will only take about 4-5 hours. Once there, set down your gear
and have a dip in the pools to relax. When you're ready, hike up the final mountain to reach the summit of
Tararecua Canyon. Once at the summit, hop into the jeeps and be lead to the Valley of the Frogs, Monks, and
Mushrooms. You will then head to the Sierra Lodge This is rustic elegance -without electricity! Each guest
room is cozy with a private bathroom with hot shower and huge terry towels. In the evening, kerosene
lanterns cast a warm glow on the log walls and pot belly stoves warm the rooms. Head over to the dining room
and relax next to a roaring fire in the stone fireplace as you sip a margarita and wait for dinner to be served
family style. This is your hideaway!

Day 6 - Batopilas -Bike Excursion
Planned Activity: Hopefully you got a good nights rest. Today you will begin by visiting Cusarare Mission,
Cusarare Village and Loyola Museum before hitting the open road on the jeeps. You’ll drive through
Basihuare Canyon and Copper Canyon and afterwards reach the turn off for Batopilas Canyon. This is where
you will begin biking. This road is fairly easy at this point with minor ups and downs for about 2 hours until
we reach the luncheon spot. A deluxe discada lunch will be prepared here. After lunch, remount on bikes
and attack the famous switchback portion of the road that is the most fun. This portion of the road is why
people ride this road and it is wildly fun. Eagles are soaring near your head as you descend from over 7,000 ft
to just 400 meters above sea level in Batopilas. You’ll arrive in Batopilas around sunset today as it is an
action packed day. Stay at Riverside Lodge. Rooms have claw foot bathtubs and antique beds and murals
are painted on the ceiling of the sitting room. This hotel stretches a full city block and features private
gardens and cozy nooks. There is a special surprise after dinner.

Day 7 - Batopilas -Tubares
Planned Activity: Early breakfast; afterward you will explore the ancient city of Batopilas. You will see The Lost
Cathedral, ruins of Hacienda San Miguel and the ancient aqua duct. Early afternoon, you will hop in the jeeps and we
will have some challenging off-road ahead of us. After about 3 hours you reach the banks of the river in Tubares. Set up
camp and enjoy a Tequila tasting under the stars.

Day 8 - Tubares -Topolobampo
Planned Activity: Today we will exit the canyon. We begin on an off-roading route out the canyon. After a long
day on the road, we will reach Topolobampo. Enjoy dinner before getting on the ferry, where you will spend
the night across the Sea of Cortez. Arrive in La Paz in the morning. End of adventure part of tour.

Day 9 - 4th La Paz – Cabo San Lucas
Planned Activity: By the time you wake up, you will be in La Paz. Enjoy a nice breakfast before heading to the
resort city of Cabo San Lucas. After all the adventure, Cabo is the perfect place to kick off your shoes and
relax. This city knows how to party, so hopefully you will have saved up enough energy to hit the town on
your last night in Mexico.

Day 10- 5th Cabo San Lucas to Los Angeles
Planned Activity: Hasta La Vista Baby. It is now time to leave the land of adventure. Board plane for short
flight to LAX.
